ROLE SUMMARY
The Process Design and Transformation Expert for Tax in the Business Optimisation Centre uses his/her extensive process and leadership expertise to design an optimal Operating model and to drive the transformation initiatives to improve processes within remit and contribute to BAT strategic agenda.
The incumbent represents the Tax discipline on behalf of the relevant Global Process Owner (GPO) as an acknowledged expert in the field, providing business process leadership combined with the influencing skills necessary to drive continuous improvement and process adherence.
He/She will be in touch with the outside world, getting relevant external benchmark for processes and respective KPIs aiming to maintain or achieve best in class, always looking for areas to improve and ensure End to End integration as well as cross functional engagement whenever needed.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Business and Operational
- Provide expertise and leadership of the Tax Finance processes and activities to ensure optimal efficiency
- Collaborate effectively with peer Process Design and Transformation Experts and Business Excellence Leads for Tax areas
- Work directly with the Global Process Leads, DBS Functional Leads, GPOs, Central and Regional teams, End markets etc. to ensure key aspects of process and solution integration are achieved
- Own the functional Data related to the processes within remit and ensure the relevant set of KPI in place
- Ensure best use of Data analytics and Data Science for an effective operating model setup for Tax
- Execute business plans to agreed strategy
- Transformation
- Identifies and actively pursues continuous improvement opportunities to increase the overall efficiency and effectiveness of end to end processes within BAT related to Tax
- Seek new tools, enablers, and best practices to support accelerating the CI culture.
- Embraces change and looks for new opportunities to quickly learn the new ways
- Builds and articulates business cases that both educate the relevant audience as well as provide compelling guidance on how proposed change will create value to the business moving forward
- Embrace and advise on Agile methodology to be used at the core across the process
- Actively seeks for “outside-in” perspectives to enable best transformational initiatives with the mindset of continuous improvement for all relevant Tax products and related technologies
- Constantly challenges the “Status Quo” to improve the current ways of working
- Drive effective management of all relevant initiatives’ portfolio, monitoring implementation progress against the plan and ensure action plans in place to mitigate identified risks

- Relationship
- Drives and ensures close working relationship with Functional teams, Functional Leads, Strategy and Performance Management teams, as well as other stakeholders as required.
- Ensures effective relations within the Commercial Finance transformation team, Global Process Leads for Tax and ensure effective collaboration and delivery on the Business Excellence promise
- Interacts and provides valuable points of view with peers and stakeholders. Drives productive decision-making conversations
- Communicates effectively via all channels. Able to tailor messages to various stakeholder groups with minimal inputs/edits
- Initiate collaboration with other teams to exchange knowledge, best practices and opportunities for improvement
- Promote strong teamwork and cross functional/departmental collaboration.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
EXPERIENCE
- Proven expertise in Tax in a multinational environment with at least 5 years’ experience in either a Tax role with a leading FMCG/CPG or hands-on consultancy specialising in Tax
- Functional expertise in the area of General Finance, Taxation
- Hands on experience in Tax Processes and Transformational programmes in a global organisation
- Strong Business Acumen and relevant working experience in multinational matrix organizations
SKILLS (Technical / Functional / Leadership)
- Expert level experience and proven capability to translate business model changes into effective Operating Model
- Solution mindset, think outside the box, positive attitude, and drive for results
- Clear thinker with ability to develop, communicate and deliver clear strategy and action plans
- Line management and developing the capability of Process/Business Professionals
- Strong influencing skills towards senior management and also at all levels within our global and matrix organisation
EDUCATION
- Education: First degree (Finance/Business/Economics)
- Good understanding and relevant practice of continuous improvement methods and Agile methodology
- ACCA/CIMA would be an advantage
